Hello, I am NoobFAQ.htm :)

If you are new to Pokemon Mini,
I might be of some help getting
started.

The best way to start off is to
get some x86 machine running a
version of Microsoft Windows.
Yes, resistance is futile.

Next, download MiniMon 04-12-17.
You will find it in the folder
called "debuggers". Yes, this
is an emulator, in fact a real
time debugger.
To emulate the Pokemon Mini
corrctly, MiniMon needs the PM
Bios. It is NOT available on
this site since it would be
illegal to host it, but you
can easily get it, for example
on DarkFader's site. Just follow
the links in the Links section.

The next thing you need would
be some ROM, for example a small
game to run. Download one by
clicking the folder "Roms". If
you are still in the "Debuggers"
folder just click "Parent
directory" first.

Maybe it is a good idea to start
with "SokoFun.zip". Download it
by clicking on the name.

When you are finished down-
loading these three items, create
a folder on some harddrive and
unzip all files to it. Maybe
you should choose a folder like
"D:\PM" or "e:\Minimon".

After unzipping the files, head
to that folder and run Minimon
by double clicking "Minimon.exe".
Once it is loaded, select "Load
Bios" from "File"-Menu.
Make your way to your Minimon
folder and select "Bios.min".
Now, again from File-Menu, select
"Open" and choose "sokofun.min".

Now select "Control/ Run/ Full
Speed" to start the emulation
of SokomMini, the first homebrew
PM Game :)

Under Configure/Video Filter,
be sure "Emulate Grey" is checked
and "Dot Mask" is checked aswell.

If the debugger output (lots of
characters and numbers) disturbs
you, you can switch to Emu-only
view by unchecking "Debug/ Enable
Debugger".

Have fun with playing a bit, the
default keys are "A/S/D/Y/X/C"
plus the cursor keys. Maybe some
more, but you can remap them.

This version of MiniMon is the
one with the highest
compatibility. Still, you will
not have good sound in the
"SHizZLE" Demo, if you want to
watch this one, check out the
"Videos" folder.

If you want to try emulation on
SEGA Dreamcast or N-Gage, be
aware that the emulation core
in those emulators is very old
and will hardly run anything
but early stuff like (the very
good) PokeMaze.
The Xbox emulator uses MiniMon
core from January 2005 and
therefore is the one with the
2nd highest compatibility.

Thank you for your patience.
If you were missing important
answers, please let Team POKeMe
know, so they can feed me with
more input (use the feedback form)

You can also use that form to
order a Pokemon Mini Flashcard
which allows you to run all
roms on a real Mini

Bye bye.
